Pediatric cancer affects the quality of life at a physical and psychological level both to the patient and the family, the intensity of these changes depends on how severe the diagnosis is, the degree of disability involved and the type of treatment to be performed. The child begins a process of adaptation of this new condition that is part of his life, this process of adaptation involves the understanding of the disease, treatment and symptoms. The family, especially parents, must face different situations related to the nature of the illness, the treatment, the psychological reactions of the child, family problems and difficulties in their social environment during the course of the oncological disease.

El cáncer pediátrico afecta la calidad de vida a nivel físico y psicológico tanto al paciente
como a la familia, la intensidad de estos cambios dependen de la gravedad del diagnóstico,
el grado de incapacidad que implique y el tipo de tratamiento que vaya a efectuarse. El niño
inicia un proceso de adaptación de la nueva condición que hace parte de su vida, este
proceso de adaptación implica la compresión de la enfermedad, el tratamiento y los
síntomas. La familia en especial los padres deben enfrentarse a diferentes situaciones
relacionadas con la naturaleza de la enfermedad, el tratamiento, las reacciones psicológicas
del niño, problemas familiares y dificultades en su entorno social durante el transcurso de la
enfermedad oncológica
