This qualitative research aims to understand the perceptions of six (6) Colombian students about their experience of migratory grief, the students residing in Australia and the reason for migration responds to learning or improving English as a second language. The phenomenological research was carried out using a semi-structured interview, in which aspects of grief were explored by migration, stress and anxiety, also the purpose of travel and adjustment factors were recorded. For the analysis of results the Atlas Ti software version 6 was used. Emerging categories like selfconcept, autonomy, honeymoon stage, cultural shock stage, preparation for the trip stage, rejection of the culture of origin, emancipation, social cohesion and acquisition of a new language were found. The results are discussed from the point of view of the potential physical and psychological risks which is exposed the immigrant.
