Resumen
The objective of this work was to perform a bibliographical compilation of different authors that analyze and study follicular ovarian diseases (COD) common in dairy cows; as are the follicular cyst and luteal cyst, thus exposing the epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, symptomatology, diagnostic means and treatment of (COD). Understanding the physiological morphological characteristics of the follicular cyst and luteal cyst. With a reported incidence in dairy herds of 6 - 19%, during the first 10 weeks postpartum, it is a major cause of reproductive failure. Follicular cysts are characterized by having a diameter greater than 20 mm; have signs such as intense and prolonged heat called nymphomania, whereas luteal cysts are characteristic because they have a diameter greater than 25 mm; shows signs of lack of zeal and cyclical inactivity. the cause of the development of this disease is not fully understood but is believed to be due to an endocrine imbalance at the hypothalamic - pituitary - gonadal axis and other general factors such as: genetics, milk production, age, environment, nutrition, stress others that are predisposing cause.
