This paper analyzes the need to generate a change in the way teachers implement their classes, because the institution wants to turn its pedagogical model towards the development of competences in its students, the pedagogical practices that are developed within the classes He is not allowing it. To argue this thesis, 3 instruments were applied in order to collect the necessary information to validate the need to adjust the teaching strategies implemented by teachers. The first analysis is made from the application of a survey to teachers with the intention of knowing how much teachers know about the concept of competence and the activities that are applied in class to get students to really develop them. In the process of information gathering, observation is made to the teachers in their implementation to classes, seeking to find the strengths and weaknesses that can be found in the development of the classes; and as the last input of information, the documentary analysis that was raised to the institution is taken. We worked with a sample of the 15 teachers who guide classes in the ninth grade; the results showed that teachers, although they do not have a very clear conceptualization about work by competences, at an attitudinal and procedural level, do not ignore the importance of this. Concluding the need to generate a tool that allows them to consult about a range of possibilities, what strategies can be implemented in their classes so that students can, through them, develop the necessary skills to face the new challenges of the 21st century.
