Resumen
The postpartum anestrus is described as the time that a female without ovarian activity presents, giving rise to a rest after the birth, this period is measured by different causes that can prolong the days of this effect on the bovines that have finished their gestation. Emphasis is placed on uterine involution as the main factor that initiates postpartum anestrus. Livestock productions have as main objective to have a good productivity and achieve profitability depending on the physiological capabilities of the females to achieve a breeding per year, so it is important to reduce the interval between births which means increase income per cow / year justifying the application of reproductive management techniques to shorten postpartum anestrus or prevent it from prolonging. The objective of this review is to compile and analyze updated information on postpartum anestrus in cattle, optimal management strategies to achieve adequate time with benefits to bovine females and livestock production.
