Resumen
The objective of the present investigation was to determine if the quality of life of patients with hypertension improves through a prevention program called; Model of Adoption of Precautions, from a behavioral cognitive psychological paradigm, which explains the processes of change and the acquisition of health protective behavior habits, in seven phases of development. For the above, a quasi-experimental method was used. The sample consisted of 60 people diagnosed with arterial hypertension belonging to the chronicle workshop of the San Cristóbal Sur hospital in Bogotá, Colombia, to which the satisfaction and pleasure questionnaire was applied (Quality of Life Enjoyment and Satisfaction Questionnaire, Q-LES- Q), to assess quality of life. We sought to strengthen the area of self-care through psychoeducation, where strategies were used to generate behavioral changes in favor of health and skills to deal with possible relapses presented after the intervention. The results of the investigation reported that the quality of life was maintained in relation to the initial stage of the implementation of the program, there were no significant differences with respect to the quality of life of the patients.
