Resumen
In the pharmaceutical industry, the problem is that 60% of drugs are classified as poorly soluble in water, so strategies to improve the solubility of drugs are of crucial importance. In this sense, the development of mathematical models to estimate the solubility in a more precise way has taken relevance in the increase of medicines. However, the growth and evaluation of mathematical models for the estimation of solubility is limited and the current ones do not adequately predict this property in the majority of cases, so it is necessary to evaluate them based on experimental data to make rational modifications in the same. Another environment where mathematical modeling could be an important tool is the challenge that implies the increase of cleaner industrial processes. Standards such as ISO 14001, tend to processes and in turn cleaner products, so mathematical models would greatly reduce experimental trials contributing to the environmental challenges facing the pharmaceutical and food industries.
