Resumen
The objective of this investigation is to determine the prevalence of traffic accidents in the city of Villavicencio, correlating the typology of victims by the year 2015. For this purpose the quantitative method is used, being a research of descriptive type and non-experimental design. We analyze the data issued by the Department of Mobility of the city of Villavicencio regarding the subject of road accident; Compared to the data of national level correlating them with the typology of the accidents in terms of individuals and vehicles. Among the most representative results, it was possible to establish that a large part of the responsibility for traffic accidents both in the country and in the city of Villavicencio are attributed to men, since in a certain way they are not aware of the public health problem Which is happening, without leaving aside that any person is exposed to an accident, the victim being a pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist, passenger. Likewise, it was possible to identify that the type of vehicle with major accidents are motorcycles due to its design which makes them faster and at the same time less safe, because in any situation the driver is the most affected in the event of any mishap, regardless of whether It comes to fall alone or influenced against another vehicle. Another important aspect is the age of those involved in accidents, in this case the most representative age range is between 20 and 25 years, given the low responsibility of these. As for the means of transport that has the highest accident rate is motorcycles, with 48% of deaths at the national level, indicating 55.5% in relation to the same variable at the local level and 55% at the level of injuries National level, with 60% at local level respectively; Product of the recklessness, irresponsibility and inexperience of the drivers. On the other hand the frequency of occurrence in accidents occurs between the hours of 9am - 12pm which presents a slow traffic that is why it tends to reach its destination with greater speed no matter what may happen. The months where traffic problems are most constant are in February and March, where vehicular traffic is much more complex and on Fridays they tend to be accidental due to the weekend, as tourists from the different countries arrive. Parts of the country to celebrate the fairs and festivals in Villavicencio where it is most likely to mix gasoline with alcohol and surely not leave a good experience. The implications of the results are discussed in relation to road accident prevention policies, since there are some of these (policies and public campaigns in education, prevention) but due to the lack of formalization and their applicability, we are facing high Accident rates in the country and therefore in the municipality. Establishing that by the year 2015 in Colombia there were 52,638 traffic accidents, of which 6,835 people died, in relation to municipal level, that is to say in Villavicencio 898 traffic accidents were presented, leaving a balance of 117 fatalities, representing Approximately 1.7%, both in the number of accident events and in the number of people killed because of these.
