Resumen
The poultry industry has presented an accelerated growth in the last 50 years more than any other sector of animal production, influenced mainly by the advance in the improvement of the genetic potential. It is therefore important to establish the zootechnical parameters of the birds according to their stock, in order to classify their performance and implicitly know the advantages and critical points of intervention for each of the companies involved in the production process on farm and, thus, same, include animal welfare practices that ensure not only to ensure optimal quality of the final product but also a decent treatment to the birds until the time of slaughter. This study was carried out in the Operadora Colombia S.A.S, beneficiary plant Poultry, located in the ring 2-46 Girón, in Girón town, Santander. This practice was developed with the aim of analyzing and systematizing the zootechnical parameters between the Cobb and Ross 308 AP broiler, to carry out a possible change of breed in Operadora avícola de Colombia S.A.S company. Monthly representative samples of the general population of the Cobb and Ross 308 AP lines, 200 male and female birds were taken for the benefit, initially evaluating the ante-mortem weight, in order to compare and determine based on results, which line genetic has a better productive behavior in order to suggest a possible change of stock in the farms linked to the company.
