Self-esteem is a basic attitude that determines the child's behavior and school performance. This is related to the considerations, valuations and criticisms that children make of themselves and those made by adults about them. This is one of the most significant variables for social adaptation and success in people. This is influenced by the different events of the child's life, due to this, when a child fails in any of its social environments, it is threatened, causing in the child, feelings of dislike towards himself and fear of rejection, on the other Part, when it is successful, the child feels approved, accepted and valued; the feelings associated with these success situations will modify positively the child's self-esteem, which leads him to develop a good self-esteem. Good self-esteem allows children to have a high degree of confidence in their abilities, not to give in to the manipulation of others, to be more sensitive to the needs of others, and, among other things, to be willing to defend their principles and values . On the other hand, when it is low, it can lead the child to the development of more serious problems such as depression, anorexia, shyness, drug abuse, among others. This is why it is important from the first years of life, to strengthen the perception that children have of themselves, in this task, parents family and educational institutions, become the first and most important factors of motivation of self-esteem positive; This begins when parents and teachers recognize children as worthy, of the love, protection and education that they provide. This work is aimed at the development and implementation of strategies to strengthen the self-esteem of children and motivate educators and parents to strengthen more conducive environments for the integral development of children. The work will be carried out in the SAN VICENTE DE PAUL CHILD GARDEN institution located in the town of Los Mártires, in the city of Bogotá. For the purposes of this work, the topics will be discussed; of self-esteem and its different dimensions; the development of preschoolers, including their cognitive, sexual, and social development and their self-esteem; ending with the influence exerted on this family, school and society.
