The “Decennial Plan of Public Health” [Plan Decenal de Salud Publica (PDSP)] 2012 – 2014 was created as a reaction to the unsustainable situation of the current Colombian health system. Because, even though such system is designed to provide healthcare to all the population, through the years there have been countless flaws to its functioning; such as poor use of resources, third party profit, and inequality regarding different services. The PDSP aims to achieve equality in health services through intervening, improving and guaranteeing the health and well-being of all Colombians regardless of their gender, ethnicity, age, socio-economic status or any other characteristic that may lead to discrimination of any sort. The PDSP is divided into 8 critical dimensions and 2 transversal dimensions that dictate where to intervene to accomplish the ideal health system each Colombian deserves. The PDSP is a guidance that each municipality and department must include in their “Territorial Health Plan” (Plan Territorial de Salud”
