Objective. The objective of this study was to characterize the Capriculture in the municipality of Molagavita-Santander from the social, economic and productive point of view, collecting data with the producers in some rural areas from Molagavita. Metodology. The present work was carried out in the Municipality of Molagavita, Santander in in the caprine production systems located in the rural areas of: Potrero Grande, Naranjo, Toma de Agua, Hobo, Púrnio, Chicacuta, and Guayabo. A zoning was carried out by rural areas and, the surveys were applied to producers belonging to the Colombian goat association. General aspects of social type, infrastructure, food, nutrition, population, reproduction, genetics, health, economic, administrative, meat and dairy agroindustry were evaluated. Results The obtained data were analyzed by using Microsoft Office Excel ® 2016, and distributive and descriptive analysis were applied. Results show the following land ownership, 83% owned, 14% is in rights and actions and only 3% is in rent. The farms extension average is 7.35 ± 13.76 ha, the meat production systems are oriented by 81%, and the predominant production system is the extensive. The company type is purely family and producers have extensive experience in goat activity with an average of 48.22 ± 10.96 years. All surveyed producers (100%) have some water source and predominates Santandereana racial type (97.2%). The main production funding source are farm incomes. The goat commercialization weight is 19.85 ± 5.87 kg. The price per kilogram to sale goat meat is 5051.5 ± 591.67 Colombian pesos. Conclusion. From the documentation of the collected data from producers, it is evident that Caprine production in Molagavita is not focused on profit, but it is a kind of saving, or financial aid for the household. In terms of health, feeding and reproduction of local goats, it is a bit weak in structure, due to the small number of individuals in each production. Keywords: Caprine, Production, Molagavita.
