Resumen
Hypertension is a common chronic disease in older adults and is currently the one with the highest morbidity and mortality worldwide (Salazar, Rotta & Costa, 2016), where non-adherence to antihypertensive treatment, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, can lead to present complications ranging from physical limitations to death. It is important to recognize that the elderly population is increasing, so will chronic noncommunicable diseases such as hypertension. Therefore, the importance of studying the level of adherence to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment, together with the factors that influence it, since knowing this, you can plan interventions that favor the control of blood pressure, reducing the risk of strokes, heart attacks and other complications that are generated as a result of this. For this reason, we will use the instrument "Factors that influence the adherence to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments in patients with cardiovascular disease risk factors" to identify both the level and the factors influencing adherence to treatment.
