Description: Introducción: los factores de riesgo cardiovascular son un problema de salud pública; es importante revisar su comportamiento en los profesionales de la salud, dedicados a la formación y prevención en los diferentes niveles de atención, como médicos y enfermeras docentes universitarios. Metodología: población conformada por 89 docentes de una facultad de ciencias de la salud, de los programas de enfermería y medicina de una entidad universitaria. Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal desarrollado en el 2010 utilizando como método la “Encuesta para tamizaje de pacientes con factores de riesgo cardiovascular” de la Asociación Colombiana de Cardiología. Resultados: población con índice de masa corporal sobre valores límites permisibles; ingesta de alcohol (62%), perímetro abdominal por encima de lo normal (45%), sedentarismo (44%), estrés (41%), hipertensión arterial (28%), antecedentes familiares de enfermedades coronarias (37%) y dislipidemias (15%) Conclusiones: los factores de riesgo cardiovascular tienen una alta presencia en la población de estudio.
Introduction: Cardiovascular risk factors are a public health problem, it is important to monitor their behavior in health professionals related to education and prevention in different levels, such as doctors and nurses that are university teachers. Methodology: The study was carried out on a population consisting of 89 teachers from the faculty of Health Sciences in the Nursing and Medicine programs of a University. We made a crosssectional, descriptive study developed in 2010 through the “Encuesta para tamizaje de pacientes con factores de riesgo cardiovascular” (Survey for the screening of cardiovascular risk factors) from the Colombian Association of Cardiology. Results: The following risk factors were found in the studied population: bmi above permissible limits, intake of alcohol (62%), abdominal circumference above normal (45%), sedentary lifestyle (44%), stress (41%), hypertension (28%), family history of coronary heart diseases (37%) and dyslipidemia (15%) Conclusions: Cardiovascular risk factors have a high presence in the studied population.
