Resumen
The objective of this article is to identify and know the generalities of Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI), its development as an alternative to genetic improvement, and its dissemination in a greater cattle population. The FTAI is a great tool to carry out an insemination avoiding heat detection, with a simple management with responsibility and technics. On the search to improve livestock productivity, FTAI is an efficient method for genetic improvement. However, FTAI requires intensiveness and skills, on the other way, it is no profitable way to production. The most common FTAI methods are: the use of prostaglandins, for corpus luteum lisis, progesterone, that act as artificial corpus luteum, estrogens that simulate the effect of the releasing hormone of gonadotropins for ovulation induction at exact moment of oestrus.
